Oman Enters the Global Top 10 for Customs Efficiency

Oman Enters the Global Top 10 for Customs Efficiency

Oman has climbed from 47th to 9th globally in customs clearance efficiency under the World Bank’s Logistics Performance Index 2025 — a major achievement for the Sultanate’s trade and logistics sector.

What’s driving this milestone?

  • Digitisation through the “Bayan” electronic customs system
  • Customs declarations issued in as little as 10 seconds
  • Air and sea shipments cleared in under two minutes
  • 90% of shipments processed within the first hour
  • Green Corridor initiatives enabling fast-track bonded transport routes with regional hubs such as Dubai

For trading, logistics, import/export and manufacturing companies, this means faster cargo movement, reduced operational delays, lower supply chain costs, and greater regional connectivity.

This is particularly important for international companies evaluating Oman as a regional hub connecting GCC markets with Asia, Africa and Europe. The development further strengthens the position of strategic logistics zones such as Sohar, Duqm and Salalah.

At Bondoni, we are seeing increasing interest from international trading and logistics businesses looking to establish operations in Oman as the country continues to enhance its global competitiveness and business environment. We lead international trading and logistics companies with company formation and corporate services to establish and operate efficiently in Oman.

Bondoni actively  advises and manages many of our clients’ customs processes from around the world.
